These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and POLARYS LAB ("we," "us," "our"), a sole proprietorship registered in Malaysia, governing your use of the Fondue mobile app ("Fondue," "the app"). By downloading, installing, or using Fondue, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of consent for online services in your country, if higher) to use Fondue. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you confirm you have a parent or guardian's permission to use the app.
Fondue is a group expense-splitting app. It helps you track shared bills, split costs, and see who owes whom — it does not move money itself. Any actual payment happens outside Fondue, through whatever app or method you and your group agree on (bank transfer, a payment app, cash, etc.). Fondue is not a payment processor, a money-transmission service, or a bank, and we are not responsible for payments made or promised outside the app.
Fondue works without a mandatory account — your groups and expenses are stored locally on your device by default, and you can use the app fully as a guest. Signing in (with an email code, Google, or Apple) is only required for two things: making a purchase, and using Cloud Sync to keep a group in step across your own devices or share it with someone you invite. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what signing in and Cloud Sync each involve.
You're responsible for keeping your own device and account secure, and for the accuracy of what you enter — splits, amounts, and who owes what are only as correct as the information you or your group members provide.
Fondue offers optional paid upgrades, purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store (never through the app directly, and we never see or store your payment details):
Billing and renewal: Fondue Plus automatically renews at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your payment method (via your Apple ID or Google account) will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the then-current price.
Cancellation: manage or cancel your subscription any time through your device's App Store or Play Store account settings — not through Fondue directly. Canceling stops future renewals; you keep Plus features through the end of the period you already paid for (including through the end of a free trial, if you cancel during one).
Refunds: refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their own refund policies, not by us — we have no ability to issue a refund directly.
Restore Purchases: if you reinstall Fondue or switch devices, use the "Restore Purchases" option to recover an active subscription tied to your store account, at no extra charge.
Price changes: we may change subscription pricing for future billing periods; where required by law or by Apple/Google's own rules, you'll be notified in advance and can cancel before a new price takes effect.

We may suspend or terminate access to paid features or Cloud Sync for accounts that violate these Terms.
Fondue relies on third-party services to work — Google Cloud Vision (receipt scanning), Supabase (sign-in and opt-in Cloud Sync), Sentry (crash reporting), and RevenueCat together with the App Store/Play Store's own purchasing systems (subscription and purchase management). Your use of those features is also subject to those providers' own terms, which we don't control. See our Privacy Policy for details on each.
Fondue — its design, code, and branding — belongs to POLARYS LAB. Using the app gives you a personal, non-transferable license to use it on your own devices; it doesn't give you any ownership over the app itself. The data you enter (your groups, expenses, and splits) remains yours.
Fondue is provided "as is." We don't guarantee it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that receipt scanning (OCR) will always read a receipt correctly — always review scanned items before saving, which the app requires you to do. We're not liable for financial disagreements, missed payments, or disputes between group members; Fondue is a tracking tool, not an arbiter of who owes what in reality.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Fondue, including money owed or disputed between users of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to Fondue is limited to the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months before the claim.
You can stop using Fondue at any time by deleting the app; deleting the app removes your locally-stored data from your device (see the Privacy Policy for what happens to any data you'd previously synced). We may suspend or terminate your access to paid features or Cloud Sync if you materially breach these Terms; the rest of the app remains usable as a free, local-first tool.
This agreement is between you and POLARYS LAB — Apple and Google are not a party to it and have no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Fondue. To the extent these Terms provide a warranty, that warranty is ours alone, not Apple's or Google's. Apple and Google (and their subsidiaries) are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, once you accept them, may enforce these Terms against you as such — but they're otherwise not responsible for addressing any claims you have relating to the app.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where required, notify you in-app. Continuing to use Fondue after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in full effect.
